Autism Intervention Program
(direct clinical service for children and families)
Who are we?
The Autism Intervention Program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to deliver Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) programming for children on the severe end of the autism spectrum. The program is administered and delivered by the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in English and French in the Eastern region of Ontario. We are one of nine regional programs in Ontario.
Who are our clients?
Our program accepts referrals for children who:
- Have a diagnosis from a physician or psychologist that states the child has autism, autistic disorder or an autism disorder considered to be towards the severe end of the autism spectrum disorder. Children with Asperger Syndrome are not eligible.
- Live within the geographic boundary of the program. The “Eastern” catchment area of Ontario includes Ottawa, Renfrew county, the united counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, and Prescott and Russell counties.
What is our aim?
Our goal is to work with families to optimize the potential of children with autism in Eastern Ontario.
