CHEO-OCTC Board of Directors
Over the past eleven years, Jennifer Walker has advocated for her son Griffin who passed away on November, 2015. Griffin had spastic quad cerebral palsy and was medically fragile and completely dependent on others for his care. Griffin's condition led to Jennifer's involvement in the areas of pediatric rehabilitation, children's hospitals, home care, respite and pediatric palliative care.
Jennifer put this experience to use as Chair of the Family Advisory Committee for Roger's House (today Roger Neilson House), the pediatric palliative care facility in Ottawa. She also chaired the Joint Advisory Group, a family advisory committee serving the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (OCTC), the Ottawa Rotary Home, Champlain Complex Care, and Roger's House. In addition to this, Jennifer represented OCTC on the Ontario Association of Children's Rehabilitation Services Family Advisory Council.
As a senior public servant in the criminal justice field, Jennifer understands relationships between government and stakeholders, and aims to represent the views of families and caregivers when new ideas are being developed and important decisions are under consideration.
