For two years, Pascal Bessette suffered from nausea which caused him to throw up on a regular basis. On October 18, 2014 Pascal suddenly lost consciousness at home and was rushed by ambulance to CHEO.
A CT scan determined that he had a brain tumour.
Four days later on October 22, Pascal underwent surgery to remove the tumour. To everyone’s relief, the tumour was benign. Pascal spent two weeks at CHEO and then returned home. One week after, he was already going back to school on a part-time basis and, by December, he was back to school full-time. Today, one year later, his life has returned to normal. He continues to have regular follow ups at CHEO with various clinics including Neurology, Endocrinology, Medical Day Unit and Ophthalmology.
An artist and a lover of music, Pascal has put his singing lessons to great use to show his heartfelt gratitude to the CHEO team who saved his life. His mother France forwarded the following message which Pascal and his family want to share with all of you.
“It is with great pride, gratitude, recognition and lots of love that we share this video. Pascal wanted to highlight in a positive way his one year milestone after brain surgery.
As he often says, ‘I could never thank CHEO enough for everything they have done for me!’ We hope this thank you reaches all the staff at CHEO. When we say ALL the staff, we mean ALL the staff….including the cooks because Pascal loved the food at CHEO!
Pascal loves to sing, he loves life and he cannot be happier since CHEO has found what it was that was making him sick.
Ça fait déjà un an, is the story of our super hero Pascal; with his words and his voice, he is sharing this wonderful song full of hope.
Leave a comment, by all means, he will appreciate them!
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!”
