Biographical Notes 

Susan Richardson

Vice President, Child Development and Community Services

image of smiling woman with short hairWith more than 30 years combined clinical and administrative experience, Susan has dedicated her career to promoting excellence in the delivery of health services for children, youth and their families.

Since 1987, Susan has served in a range of senior executive roles at CHEO. She was instrumental in the construction of the CHEO Research Institute and the Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre and has published on various health-related issues, including wait times and patient safety.

Currently, Susan oversees several programs including Medical and Surgical Inpatient Services, Oncology and Hematology, Emergency Services, Mental Health, Ambulatory Care, Connected Care, Regional Autism Program, Critical Care, Maternal Newborn Services, Rehabilitation and Chronic Pain service. In addition, Susan collaborates closely with the Chief Nurse Executive and provides leadership to the Director of Professional Practice.

Susan completed her bachelor of science in occupational therapy at Queen's University and earned her masters of business administration from the University of British Columbia. She is past chair of the Canadian Association of Pediatric Centres and Roger's House. Susan currently serves as board chair of the Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre.
