POSITION SUMMARY

As an ASD Consultant, you will complement and augment existing school system capacity by providing consultation, training and resource support for educational personnel and existing multidisciplinary teams within the educational system. You will be assigned to provide services to specific schools withinEastern Ontario, and. assignments may change over time dependent on program and school board requirements.  Travel throughout different area (Cornwall, Renfrew, Prescott-Russell, etc….) 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

§Work with education personnel, families, and other community resources/agencies to identify youth and/or school board and school needs, develop and implement required programming and resources to support a learning environment for youth with ASD

§Act as liaison between different stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from IBI toABAfor youth with ASD

§Participate in the development of a joint plan for training and resource development for assigned schools

§Develop, implement and evaluate training programs and learning strategies for school personnel

§Participate in school team meetings and provide consultation to school personnel regarding programming/approaches for students with ASD diagnosis

§Participate in the development of research and outcomes management initiatives and disseminate evidence-based practices for youth with ASD

§Assist in the development of protocols with school boards

§Maintain documentation of activities and information per program requirements

§Participate in the development and achievement of the Program’s annual plan

§Participate in projects, committees, and/or other activities to support the Program’s mission, goals, and priorities

§Pursues professional growth opportunities to keep current with research and educational practice in the field of ASD

 

QUALIFICATIONS

§Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)

§Bachelor’s degree, in Education, Psychology or related field (Essential)

§Master’s in Education, Psychology or related field  (Preferred)

§Strong knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder  (Essential)

§ Strong theoretical and practical foundation in using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and other evidence-based strategies (e.g., TEACCH,PECS, etc.)  (Essential)

§Behavioural management experience with children/youth with ASD (Essential)

§Demonstrated ability to work within a consultative model   (Essential)

§Competencies in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs and strategies (Essential)

§Proficiency in planning and delivering adult education  (Essential)

§Self-directed with the demonstrated ability to adapt to change (Essential)

§Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills (Essential)

§Strong verbal and written communication skills   (Essential)

§Familiarity and ease with technology typically found in a classroom environment   (Essential)

§ValidOntariodriver’s license and access to personal vehicle  (Essential)

§Bilingualism (English/French)     (Essentiel)

§Teaching experience  (Preferred)
