The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the University of Ottawa are pediatric health and research centres that aim to provide outstanding family-centered patient care, pioneering breakthrough research, and excellence in training the health care professionals of tomorrow. The Department of Pediatrics is a dynamic department serving a large geographical area with a population base of 1.8 million. In addition, with the proximity to Quebec and the availability of bilingual services, children from Western Quebec are referred and treated at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Our pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Division is designated as the tertiary referral centre for all children with acute and chronic gastrointestinal and liver disorders from Eastern Ontario, including procedural and endoscopic services.
The Division is actively recruiting a well-qualified individual who has completed/will be completing training and credentialing in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. The candidate must have completed a minimum 2 years of advanced fellowship training in managing infants and children with various liver, bowel and nutritional conditions as well as excellent competency for performing all relevant endoscopic procedures. An interest to develop a new area of clinical expertise will be an asset. It is expected that academic advancement will be a career goal in this position which will be 70% clinical / 30% academic. This faculty member will be joining a very cohesive group of 5 full time and 1 part-time physicians and also working closely with our multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Physician Assistant, Dieticians and Social Worker in the Division.
The candidate will be Royal College of Physician and Surgeons certified or equivalent. Fluency in both English and French would be an advantage. Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
