Budget Preparation

§ Work closely with the Manager, Budget & Reporting and Director of Finance to develop and implement the annual budget process that Hospital departments will administer, including development of user spreadsheets and other budget submission requirements;

§ Assist in the development of budget principles and balancing principles;

§ Review and validate of departmental budget submissions in line with assumptions and budget principles; and

§ Preparation of Ministry required budget documents and templates for the overall Hospital, as well as many separately funded programs.

Monthly Financial and Statistical Statement Review and Analysis

§ Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial and statistical reports for the Hospital;

§ Identify and research specific/unusual items in the financial and statistical information, working closely with Decision Support and Hospital operational departments;

§ Validate reporting, both financial and statistical, in line with Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS);

§ Provide feedback and analysis to Hospital departments on monthly financial and statistical results;

§ Support Hospital Managers and Directors in understanding their financial and statistical results;

§ Preparation of working papers for the annual financial statement audit and Ministry reporting, as required; and,

§ Assist Financial Reporting Analyst(s) reconcile various balance sheet accounts month to ensure good internal controls.

Ministry Reporting

§ Preparation of Ministry required financial reports on a timely basis, in coordination with Hospital Managers and Directors;

§ Maintain working papers that support the preparation of the Ministry submissions to ensure continuity and consistency;

§ Prepare and analyze various monthly/quarterly/annual statistical reports; and,

§ Maintain current knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) and work with the Manager, Budget & Reporting and Director of Finance to ensure Hospital compliance.


§ Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)

§ Honours University Degree in Accounting or Business (Essential)

§ Professional Accounting Designation (Essential)

§ Five (5) years of related experience (Essential)

§ Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) (Preferred)

§ Bilingual - English/ French (Preferred)

§ Take steps to ensure timely completion of tasks by adjusting priorities as required (Essential)

§ Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing (Essential)

§ Deal effectively with internal customers and external customers (Essential)
