This employee will be required to carry out inspections, maintenance, and repair tasks on a wide variety of Hospital building components, systems, electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, fixtures and accessories. This employee will be joining a team of 12 licensed tradespersons. We are specifically looking for applicants that are Licensed Refrigeration technicians.
§ Perform corrective and preventive maintenance inspections and repairs
§ Troubleshoot and make adjustments to the Hospital Building Automation System – (Siemens Apogee)
§ Troubleshoot, repair, service, or replace defective equipment including commercial kitchen equipment, A/C units, Glycoolers and Refrigerated walk-ins.
§ Assist with developing and updating maintenance and preventive maintenance programs
§ Document and report to the Manager any major repairs or replacement that needs to be programmed or scheduled
§ Research technical brochures and data to recommend the acquisition of new replacement systems and equipment
§ Identifies and sources parts required to effect repairs
§ Record time and supplies used for each task performed
§ Work with the other technicians and members of the Facilities Management team to carry out scheduled major maintenance and overhauls
§ Assist with the implementation of new construction and renovation projects in conjunction with outside contractors
§ Carry a radio during normal working hours within the Hospital and a pager and cell phone when on-call
§ Respond to internal fire alarms as a member of the Hospital Fire Response Team as well as other hospital-wide emergency codes
§ Participate in Hospital orientation, indoctrination, safety and technical training sessions
§ Practice safe working procedures and adhere to safety regulations of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, and hospital policies
§ Maintain Facilities Management workshop and tools in good safe working order
§ Work with other trades in a multi-skilled environment and perform tasks that are not directly trade related
§ Perform other related tasks as identified by the management team
§ Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
§ Candidate must hold a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification (provincial journeyman certification)
in the following trade; Refrigeration Mechanic (Essential)
§ Secondary School graduate (Essential)
§ Minimum of five years of working experience in a licensed trade (Essential)
§ Previous Hospital experience (Preferred)
§ Experience with repairs to commercial kitchen equipment
§ Experience with VRF systems (Preferred)
§ Must be capable of working in a multi-skilled environment (Essential)
§ Must be able to work staggered hours and scheduled overtime (Essential)
§ Valid Drivers License (essential)
§ Good verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
§ Bilingualism (French / English) (Preferred)
