Overview of Award Program
CHEO’s Board of Trustees is proud to launch the second edition of its formal annual award program inspired by its "Let's Keep Kids Out of Hospital" advocacy platform.
Although keeping kids out of hospital may appear to be an unusual objective for a children's hospital, CHEO has made it a top priority. We know full well at CHEO that preventing illness and injuries is a far better prescription for health and well-being than having to treat them. Studies have confirmed time and again that sound nutrition, adequate housing, access to counseling, the use of protective gear when taking part in sports, and health education are among the best ways we can keep children and youth in our community healthy and active.
CHEO knows that many organizations and individuals in our community share this view and contribute to achieving this goal. With the “Let’s Keep Kids Out of Hospital” Award Program, CHEO will be able to recognize and honour those who contribute meaningfully to the community and help make a difference in the lives of children and youth.
We are looking for individuals, organizations or corporations that go that “extra mile”, whose work goes “above and beyond” other initiatives. Winners could include a sports coach, a teacher with an after-school program, a community group, advocacy lobbyists, health service providers, volunteer organizations, health or social service agencies, or a company with a special volunteer or corporate citizenship program targeted specifically at children’s health and wellness.
