CHEO and OCDSB Announce Free Info Session for Parents of Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers Feb. 6
Monday, February 6, 2012 - 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Ottawa, January 23, 2012 - The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), in collaboration with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), is pleased to announce its CHEO Connects free information session for parents of toddlers and pre-schoolers.

On February 6, a group of CHEO experts will tackle the early years, ages 1 to 5, beginning with a plenary “need to know” discussion, followed by three breakout sessions, each targeting important phases in a child’s development.

The sessions will focus on a variety of issues and complementary strategies including speech, language and school readiness; discipline and behavior; diet and nutrition; and other developmental changes.

Speakers include:

Dr. Marc Zucker, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa and the Acting Chief for the Division of Pediatric Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Mary Lynn Taschereau, Communicative Disorders Assistant with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the First Words Preschool Speech and Language Program of Ottawa.

Tammy Cooper, Registered Dietician working in Diabetes’s research for Canadian Clinical Trials Network at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute.

Dr. Virginia Bourget, Psychologist with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario’s Mental Health Inpatient Unit.

Parents and future parents are invited to join these exciting and informative sessions starting at 7:00 p.m. and concluding at 9:30 p.m. on February 6. 2012. This event will be held at the Adult High School, 300 Rochester Street at Gladstone. Parking is free.
