Community organizations come together to prevent youth suicide

On Wednesday, February 8, members of Ottawa’s Community Suicide Prevention Network will come together representing more than 40 community organizations for the first-ever summit on youth suicide prevention and building a Suicide Safer Ottawa. The goal is to bring Ottawans together to share existing efforts and to improve strategies for preventing youth suicide.

The speakers at the event will include:

  • Emcee Steve Madely, 580 CFRA
  • Yasir Naqvi, MPP
  • Lisa McLeod, MPP
  • Mayor Jim Watson
  • Allan Hubley, Ottawa City Councillor
  • Raj Bhatla, Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Royal Ottawa Hospital
  • Joanne Lowe, Executive Director of the Youth Services Bureau (YSB)
  • Ian Manion, Executive Director of the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health
  • Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO
  • Renée Ouimet, Ottawa Suicide Prevention Coalition
  • Michael Hone, Associate ED, Crossroads Children’s Centre
  • Jennifer Oake, Principal, St. Pius High School
  • Sandy Clement, Regional Director, Community Affairs, Bell
  • Youth representatives from YSB and YouthNet.
