CHEO’s Dream Home meets Pinterest
10/08/2013 – Ottawa (Ontario) - The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the CHEO Foundation are excited to launch a Pinterest page to showcase the Minto Dream Home that is part of the grand prize in the 2013 Dream of a Lifetime Lottery.

With the support of the Algonquin College’s BAA-Interior Design Program, CHEO will use Pinterest to post images of design and décor elements within the Dream Home, to provide commentary about the elements, and to create a forum for dialogue about the home and home decor. New pins will be added daily until the lottery deadline on Friday, December 13th.

The CHEO Foundation hopes to create an ongoing dialogue about the Dream Home and the Lottery through social media, particularly Pinterest, throughout the campaign. The Minto Dream Home features a wide range of incredible design ideas and featuring them on PInterest is an ideal way to share the beauty.

Students from the Algonquin College’s BAA-Interior Design program will analyze various rooms and décor elements in the home, and their commentary will be posted daily, along with photos, on CHEO’s Pinterest

It can be a great source for décor ideas that people can bring back into their own homes, along with expert commentary on what makes those décor elements work. The Pinterest board will also include detailed information on paint colors, design elements and where they can be purchased.

Pinterest users are encouraged to follow the Dream Home board, repin the pins and engage in discussion with other users about the expertly designed home. All pins will link back to the Dream of a Lifetime website,, where tickets can be ordered.

“Pinterest is something new not only for the lottery but also for the hospital,” said Cheryl Hammond, VP Development and Corporate Relations at the CHEO Foundation. ”We’re hoping the community will be interested in repining our photos and talking about the Dream Home decor. It is a fun way for the community to engage with us and, ultimately, raise funds for the children and youth of this community. Let’s face it – there is some Designer Guys in all of us!”
