CHEO ranked top hospital in Ontario for inpatient pediatric care
November 19, 2013, Ottawa — The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has been named the top hospital in Ontario for pediatric inpatient satisfaction, in this year’s National Research Corporation Canada/Ontario Hospital Association’s patient ratings report released yesterday.

Compared to 26 other hospitals, CHEO had the highest ranking when pediatric patients and their parents were asked to indicate their overall satisfaction with inpatient care. The NRCC and the OHA based their report on patients who had an inpatient stay or emergency department visit between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012.

“This is just the beginning. CHEOnext, our strategic plan, focuses on providing an exceptional experience for every patient and family,” said Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO. “CHEO’s aim is to go from really good to really great by engaging patients and parents in every facet of care, listening to their feedback and using it to continuously improve.”

CHEO is the second largest hospital in the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and one of only a few stand-alone pediatric hospitals in Canada. Last year CHEO admitted 6,245 children and youth for hospital stays. CHEO has more than 2,500 doctors, nurses and additional staff dedicated to providing the best possible care for the children and youth of our community.

CHEO’s specially-trained pediatric experts recognize families as partners and deliver family-centred care. Patients and families receive comprehensive treatment with the utmost respect to their unique needs and preferences.
