CHEO seeks volunteers to join its Board of Trustees & Board Sub-Committees
CHEO is currently recruiting community leaders to join its Board of Trustees and Board Sub-Committees. The primary mandate of the Board of Trustees is to ensure the organization fulfills its mission to help kids and families be their healthiest, to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, to approve the hospital’s policies and to review its financial performance.

CHEO’s Board of Trustees is made up of 13 volunteers from the community and four ex-officio members. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for CHEO’s mission to serve the children, youth and families of our community. In particular, we are seeking individuals with experience in organizational governance in the corporate, non-profit, or broader public sectors. Ideal candidates would have a good knowledge of the health care environment, public policy, familiarity with child and youth issues, and/or have already played active leadership roles in their community.

Candidates must be available to attend the monthly board meetings and at least one committee meeting per month, plus dedicate a few hours a month to read required documentation and attend other functions, as needed. They should be willing to represent CHEO in the community and with decision makers, in order to help achieve CHEO long-term goals. Mandates are for three years, renewable twice.

CHEO is also seeking community members to serve on the Board's Audit & Corporate Services Sub-Committee (provides oversight and stewardship in the areas of human, financial, information technology and property resources) and the Community Engagement & Health Advocacy Sub-Committee (provides oversight in the areas of advocacy, health promotion and community engagement, bringing a proactive voice to issues affecting the health of children and youth). Time commitment includes attending at least one committee meeting per month, as well as time required to read documentation in advance. Community members serve a one year term, subject to reappointment.

Those interested should send their resume by e-mail to the CEO and secretary of the Board at by May 2, 2014. You can also obtain more information by contacting the office of the CEO at 613-737-2201.
