2015-2016 CHEO Champion Child
Ottawa, 07/10/2015 – The CHEO Foundation announced that nine year old Hodan Osman is CHEO’s representative in the Children's Miracle Network’s Champions program presented by Walmart Canada - a special program where a patient from each of Canada’s 12 children’s hospital are chosen to represent patients across the nation in celebration of pediatric health and wellness. At the age of seven Hodan was diagnosed with leukemia. Now, at the age of nine, Hodan is alive, healthy and stronger than ever thanks to her positive attitude and the amazing staff at CHEO. Hodan will spend the next year representing the thousands of children and youth who rely on CHEO every day.

On October 1st at CHEO, three princesses came to give Hodan the magical news about her new role as CHEO Champion. Hodan will be a spokesperson at a number of CHEO events throughout the year, which includes a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida where she will meet up with Champions from other pediatric hospitals across North America.

Hodan has always said she either wants to be a nurse or a princess when she grows up. Yesterday, the Champions program presented by Walmart has gave her the chance to fulfill one on those dreams at least for a day.
Champions presented by Walmart is a program that honours remarkable children who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges. For their courage, tenacity and perseverance, children are selected as ambassadors for the 17 million kids treated each year at Children's Miracle Network children's hospitals in Canada and the United States.
In 2015 Walmart reached the $100 million milestone for Children’s Miracle Network Canada. Walmart Canada and CHEO have been partners through Children’s Miracle Network since 1993 and in that time Walmart has raised over $5 million for CHEO.
