CHEO Proud To Be Recognized As a Top Employer in Region

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has once again been recognized as one of the National Capital Region’s Top Employers for 2017. This is the sixth time CHEO has received this honour.

The National Capital Region’s Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes the Ottawa-area employers that lead their sectors by offering exceptional places to work.

CHEO continues to meet many of the Top Employer selection criteria: workplace atmosphere, benefits, employee communications, training and skills development, and community involvement.

“CHEO is committed to providing exceptional patient care and to ensuring that staff are proud of their work and enjoy coming to work each day. Our satisfaction surveys consistently show that our physicians and staff are proud to say they are part of the CHEO family,” said Alex Munter, CHEO’s chief executive officer.

CHEO offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, a “family-friendly” environment that supports staff and their families, as well as our patients and their families. The organization helps employees grow personally and professionally through comprehensive orientations, on-the-job learning, leadership training and support for professional development.

Last year was significant as CHEO officially merged with the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, bringing both organizations and their unique and specialized expertise into a single system of care.

“Our team is nearly 3,000 people strong and about 150 of them have more than 30 years’ experience. Their dedication and hard work is what makes CHEO such a positive and supportive workplace,” said Mr. Munter.

In February 2017, it was also announced that for the second year running, CHEO ranked No. 1 among health-care and social-sector employers, moving into the Top 10 at position 10 on Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers. CHEO joins Google, Ubisoft, NAV Canada and Toronto Hydro in the top 10 best places to work in Canada.
