Get engaged in your care! Help CHEO – OCTC develop a new engagement framework

Ottawa – As one organization, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) are looking for advice from children, youth and families about making all parts of our care better. We’re calling this our Child, Youth and Family Engagement Framework.

An engagement framework is a guideline on how to involve the people we serve in the decisions we make at CHEO – OCTC. The best way to build this framework is to have patients and families take part. Your involvement will help us focus on what is important to you and support our commitment to delivering patient- and family-centred care.

Before we became one organization, CHEO and OCTC had separate methods of engaging with the children, youth and families we served. Creating a new engagement framework will help us properly partner with children, youth and families in our decisions which is essential to providing the best experience possible.

There are several ways to get involved and many options to suit your schedule. This September, we’re looking for input from children, youth and parents in a variety of ways, including through monthly meetings, one-time workshops, as well as consultations by email or phone. We expect to officially launch our new framework on April 1, 2018.
