We are committed to promoting the engagement of nurses in research and to advancing paediatric nursing research through research use and the development of new knowledge to guide our practice in order to provide exemplary family centered care.

Director, Nursing Research & Knowledge Transfer Consultant
Judy Rashotte, RN, MScN, PhD

Under the direction of the Director, Nursing Research & Knowledge Transfer Consultant, the centre of nursing research:

  • Supports and promotes evidence-based paediatric clinical nursing practice at CHEO
  • Develops innovative strategies to advance nursing research at CHEO
  • Supports the professional development of nurses at CHEO in the area of research
  • Supports the professional development of graduate nurses in the area of research.

Nursing Research Chair

Denise Harrison, Endowed Chair in Nursing Care of Children, Youth and Families

  • Leads and participates in research especially relating to pain in infants and children
  • Mentors and supervisors student internships, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
  • Embeds research teaching in the University of Ottawa nursing undergraduate program
  • Supports the growth in research capacity for CHEO nurses
