Biographical Notes
Dr. Phillipp Mossdorf 
Chief of Anesthesia
Dr. Philipp Mossdorf is the Chief of Anesthesia. He was appointed chief in 2007. He has
an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia
at University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Mossdorf obtained his medical degree from the University
of Göttingen, Germany. He trained in the residency program in Anesthesia in
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Subsequently he completed a fellowship in pediatric
anesthesia at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. Since 2004 he is
appointed Staff at CHEO.
Dr. Mossdorf is a member of the Perioperative Executive Team
and co-chairs the Perioperative Patient Safety Team. Both committees constitute
the governance of the Perioperative Services at CHEO.
Since his leadership as the chief of the anesthesia
department, the department has substantially increased in size. Aside from
anesthesia, its clinical service incorporates acute and chronic pain medicine.
