If you have questions about your child's asthma, you should ask your child's physician. This page will list some other resources to help you understand asthma in children. This page includes a few links to other useful sources of information about asthma in children.

American Lung Association — Childhood Asthma This site provides comprehensive information about asthma in children, from an American point of view, with links to the American Lung Association. Note that there are significant differences between current Canadian and American approaches to the treatment of asthma in children.

A Listing of Asthma Medications in Countries Throughout the World This terrific site lets you check the name of an asthma medication you may have used in a different country, or see if the medication your child's using is available someplace else.

The makers of Claritin® (an anti-histamine) and The Weather Network provide a terrific site listing pollen counts and air pollution information in each part of Canada. (Note: this site uses frames, and doesn't always seem to load correctly! Click on Season, and then Pollen or Air Quality)

Ontario Lung Association Find the Ontario Lung Association Office in your area of Eastern Ontario. The Lung Association provides workshops on Childhood Asthma and many other programs. Contact the office near you for more information.

The Canadian Lung Association — Information about the Canadian Lung Association, with links to information about many areas of lung health.

The Canadian Lung Association Asthma Information Site provides an overview on the Canadian perspective on asthma.

The Virtual Medical Center provides the latest asthma news, and other asthma information, from an American perspective.

The Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine Web Site, Intelihealth.com, provides a lot of information about asthma, mainly in adults, again from an American perspective.

Sites for Children

The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto has an interactive game letting children in several different age ranges see the effects of making good and bad decisions about their asthma.

iCan, the Children's Asthma Network, sponsored by the Child Asthma Network Project, Calgary (Alberta) Health Region has an animated story especially suited for young children, and links to many other asthma resources for children.

Project A: Knock the Breath out of Asthma was written and constructed by teens for teens, to educate as well as communicate the importance of how teens feel about their asthma and how to manage it successfully.

In the province of Ontario, Canada, you may call the Ontario Lung Association's Asthma Action Program telephone line at 1 (800) 668-7682 for more information on asthma, or to obtain copies of the book "Asthma in Children," by Dr. Tom Kovesi, which is based on this Web site.
