PICU |
Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that will keep you growing as a nurse. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that contributes to innovative research and programs like Pediatric Virtual Critical Care. As a PICU nurse, you will work collaboratively with a core group of physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and dietitians to provide care for critically ill children and youth. PICU nurses at CHEO have the opportunity to gain critical-thinking skills, continually improve upon fundamental nursing skills and are encouraged to set goals to become cardiac, SPOT and charge trained. Inpatient medicine |
As an inpatient medicine nurse at CHEO, you will work in a fast-paced, stimulating environment, supported by our team of health-care aides, allied health-care providers, physicians and new learners. CHEO's inpatient nurses often tell us one of the most rewarding parts of their role is working with an integrated health-care team as well as the child, youth and families towards a common goal of care. Children and youth at CHEO present with a variety of medical diagnoses and complexities. You can expect to rapidly grow new skills and enhance existing knowledge across a variety of areas of practice, including pediatrics, chronic and acute illness and invasive and non-invasive ventilation. MDU |
Working in CHEO’s Medical Day Unit (MDU) no two days are the same. You will encounter a fast-paced, dynamic environment providing treatments and infusions for patients. You will get the opportunity to put a vast array of your nursing skills to work among a large multidisciplinary team, providing outpatient medical treatments. Are you a nurse with ambulatory care experience, venipuncture and phlebotomy skills? If so, we’d love for you to apply to join our team. |
Oncology |
Nurses working in the oncology unit at CHEO provide treatment to medically complex children and youth. In addition to oncology patients, nurses will also care for immunocompromised patients and eating disorder clients. You will work as part of a large multidisciplinary team and build empathetic and professional relationships with children and youth who are hospitalized for a longer duration of time. This is a great opportunity to gain additional skills and training caring for medically complex children and youth. Patient service clerk
Patient service clerks are often the first point of contact for families when they arrive to an appointment. They answer questions and help ease worries and nervousness families might feel when coming to CHEO. As a patient service clerk, you will schedule appointments and register patients; prepare patient charts; maintain patient lists; verify billing slips; maintain inventory and perform many other clerical tasks.

Health-care aide
Working as a valuable member of the patient care team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse, health-care aides provide a range of services to support the care of children, youth, their families and their environment.
