MyChart

MyChart is a secure, online patient portal that connects patients to parts of their CHEO electronic health record, anywhere, at any time. CHEO wants to give children, youth and families the most up-to-date health information available — even after they leave the hospital. This is why we offer MyChart.

Through MyChart, you will be able to see information related to most of your visits. MyChart is more than just an electronic version of a patient's chart. It provides:

  • easy access to patient information
  • information that patients and families need to make decisions
  • help empowering parents to be true partners in their child's care
  • information to help families keep on top of upcoming appointments
  • support to youth moving to adult care

Finding your way around MyChart

You can add upcoming appointments from MyChart into your personal calendar by clicking on the selecting the “Add to Calendar” link when viewing an upcoming appointment.

A proxy is a parent, caregiver or guardian who has access to your health record. This means they're able to see upcoming appointments, prescriptions, test results and more. Once you have your own MyChart account, it's up to you who has access to your health information. You can control this by adding or removing proxies, by following the steps below.

To add a new proxy

  • From the MyChart menu, click Share My Record and select Friends and Family Access.
  • Click Invite Someone to give proxy access to a parent or caregiver. They will receive an email notification inviting them to access your record. You can revoke their access at any time.

To remove an existing proxy

  • From the MyChart menu, click Share My Record and select Friends and Family Access.
  • Click Revoke to remove someone's proxy access. They will not receive a notification when you do this.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns about the privacy of your personal health information, don't hesitate to contact privacy@cheo.on.ca.

If your child or youth is 12 years of age or older and does not have the capacity to consent to the sharing of their Personal Health Information (PHI), please reach out to mychart@cheo.on.ca.

If you're looking to deactivate your MyChart account, follow these steps:

  • From the MyChart menu, click on Security Settings.
  • From here, follow the link in the Deactivate Your Account box to visit the account deactivation page. Make sure you read all of the instructions on this page before deactivating your account.

To review and update your notification settings, log in to MyChart and follow these steps:

  • Click “Menu” on the top left corner of the page
  • Select “Communication Preferences”
  • Select “Health” and scroll down to Test Result
  • From here, you can toggle on/off email, text and push notifications as well as an optional Daily Summary which collects all of the different notifications you might receive in a day into one notification.

Results for many tests are now available via MyChart soon after they have been processed and completed by the lab.

Lab results will be released six hours after processing, and diagnostic imaging and pathology results will be released at noon the next business day after processing.

At your next scheduled appointment your care team will review your test results, along with any questions you may have about them. They may add notes and comments in MyChart sooner. If the results of your test require a change in your treatment or indicate a change in your health condition, a member of your care team will contact you directly to discuss.

If seeing your results right away causes you some concern and you prefer to wait and hear them from your care team directly, please turn off test result notifications in MyChart:

  • Tap the “Account Settings” button:
  • From the Account Settings page, toggle the “Notifications” off  (Grey = Off, Green = On (called “Push Notifications” on Android)What test results are and are not released to MyChart?
