Construction at CHEO: plan ahead and give yourself extra time!
We're working to grow our campus with the construction of CHEO's new Integrated Treatment Centre. This includes a new parking garage to accommodate more people and a tunnel to connect the two buildings.
Please plan ahead and give yourself extra time to find parking and navigate our campus — there will be signs to help direct you!
Accessing CHEO’s main entrance
Starting May 1 and for the next approximately five months, there will be construction outside by CHEO's main entrance. The main entrance will always remain open, but vehicle, OC Transpo buses and foot traffic in the area may be redirected in different ways during each phase of the construction. Look for the navigational signs to help direct you.
Parking at CHEO
Lot "E" is currently closed for construction, but rest assured CHEO continues to have two parking lots for families and visitors to use during this construction. Families are welcome to park in lot "A" located beside the hospital, adjacent to the Garry Cardiff Wing entrance and lot "B" located across from the main building entrance. Some parking will be disrupted at various phases of the project and clearly marked with signage.
Accessible parking
Accessible Parking is available at the main entrance in the Pay and Display area near the main entrance. No payment required for accessible parking permit holders in the pay and display spot. Please review the map above for latest accessible parking locations.
OC Transpo – new temporary stops
Please note that effective mid-May there will be new temporary bus stops along Ring Road to use when coming to/leaving CHEO. Please visit OC Transpo's website for latest details and to find maps!
Safety and Signage
Please follow all wayfinding signs. CHEO is a safety first organization and there will be a lot of construction activity near the main entrance. Do not enter construction areas that will be clearly marked with signage.
We want every patient, family member and visitor to feel welcome at CHEO. We want to make sure that everyone can get the most out of our hospital and services. We are committed to meeting accessibility needs for people with disabilities in a timely manner.
Our goal is to provide everyone who walks through our door with barrier-free access to our facilities, policies, programs, practices and services.
Accessibility when coming to CHEO
Entering and exiting CHEO |
Families who may experience accessibility challenges entering via the Main Entrance can enter CHEO using the Gary Cardiff Wing entrance. When you arrive, please call Security at 613-737-7600 extension 2222. They will meet you at the Gary Cardiff Wing entrance to conduct your screening and help you enter the building. |
Clear face masks |
CHEO has clear face masks which staff can wear to make it easier for our Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and families to understand and communicate with their care providers! If you would find it helpful for your care provider to wear a clear mask, please let them know when you arrive. Please note, there may be some cases where a staff member is unable to wear a clear mask because it doesn't fit them properly. To keep you safe, we need to make sure our staff are always wearing properly fitted masks and personal protective equipment (PPE). |
