Construction at CHEO: plan ahead!

We're expanding with the new Integrated Treatment Centre, including a larger parking garage and a tunnel connecting buildings.

The main entrance will remain open, but pedestrian and vehicle routes (including OC Transpo buses) may change during construction.

Please allow extra time for parking and navigating the campus—signs will guide you!

Ongoing construction and parking impacts

CHEO has two parking areas for families and visitors:

  • Lot A, located beside the hospital and adjacent to the Garry Cardiff Wing Entrance
  • CHEO's new parking garage, located off of Ring Rd. across from Lot A (open as of April 9)

Some parking will be disrupted at various phases of the project and clearly marked with signage.

CHEO’s Parking and Security team is only the press of a button away – use the button on the parking gates to contact our team if you need support finding or accessing parking when you arrive.

Accessible parking
Accessible Parking is available at the main entrance in the Pay and Display area near the main entrance. No payment required for accessible parking permit holders in the pay and display spot. Please review the map above for the latest accessible parking locations.

Getting to CHEO

By bus

OC Transpo

OC Transpo buses run across Ottawa. Visit their website to plan your trip, find out about what routes are available and more. There are currently two routes that stop at CHEO's main campus: route 5 and route 45. Both busses come regularly throughout the day.

You can also call OC Transpo's information line at 613-741-4390 for schedule details.

Ontario Northland

Ontario Northland offers motor coach transportation from Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and North Bay to Ottawa. Passengers now have the option to be dropped off at two OC Transpo bus stops near CHEO and The Ottawa Hospital. Busses arrive at CHEO in the evening, and depart for Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury and North Bay in the morning.

Their motor coaches can accommodate most wheeled mobility devices and many have an elevator platform for passengers with reduced mobility or those in a wheelchair.

For more information including departure times, drop-off spots and more visit the Ontario Northland site.

By car

CHEO's main campus is near most major roads/highways in the National Capital Region. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from downtown Ottawa and a 20-minute drive from the airport. There are children's hospital signs along most major roads that will lead you to CHEO.

By taxi

You can call a taxi from anywhere in Ottawa and ask to go to CHEO. From downtown Ottawa, a taxi will cost approximately $15 to reach our main campus. When you're leaving 401 Smyth Road, keep an eye out for our taxi phones located by our main entrance as well as at the Garry Cardiff and Max Keeping Wing entrances. These phones directly call a local taxi service for you.

Community locations

About the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub

We are committed to bringing the high-quality care you expect from CHEO closer to home, making it easier to access the health services you and your family need.

Mental health

  • Transition Age Youth

How to access CHEO services through the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub

For children, youth and families not already receiving care through CHEO: Follow the usual referral process for the clinic, service or program you are looking to be referred to - click the links above to learn more about each service!
