Nov. 12, 2025, Ottawa, Ont. — CHEO has teamed up with YouTube and five-time Juno-nominated artist, Jamie Fine, to create and deliver authentic and expert-informed mental health support on a platform where youth consume content every day.
The partnership represents a bold new approach to engaging youth through their preferred learning channels and consists of a bilingual video series with content informed by the most common YouTube search terms on mental health. The hope is to spark honest, accessible conversations before youth require urgent help.
Such a youth-centred approach to health communications and education is critical at a time when one in every five children and youth in Ontario faces a mental health challenge. There are also more than 300 kids currently waiting for mental health care at CHEO.
Across Ontario, about 70 per cent of people with mental health issues start to experience symptoms before they turn 18, meaning early identification and intervention are critical.
The six-part series, “This is what it feels like / Voici ce que l’on ressent,” explores ADHD, anxiety, eating disorders, major depression, substance use, and behavioural addictions.
Each episode includes Jamie Fine’s real-life stories, blending the Ottawa native’s raw emotion with expert insights from CHEO’s world-renowned clinicians, offering teens and families a trusted resource that’s both relatable and informative.
You can watch the videos on YouTube now, where Canadians view mental health content about 1.5 billion times within a year.
