A new campaign from kids’ health-care organizations in Ontario, aimed at providing parents with the facts about COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 11, flips the script on a familiar family topic. Homework. Except now, it’s kids asking parents, "Have you done your homework?”
There is a lot of information out there, so Ontario’s pediatric health experts have pulled into one place the facts to help make an informed choice about COVID-19 vaccination for children — ParentHomework.ca.
The “Parent Homework” COVID-19 campaign, which launched on January 31, was created by the Children's Health Coalition, a collective of children's health organizations across Ontario. It features TV and digital advertising, social media content including videos, all to pointing people to the ParentHomework.ca website.
There, families will find reliable resources with the facts about the COVID-19 vaccine, a curated list of frequently asked questions for the five-to-11 age group, including some of the most common questions received and answered by experts. It also helps parents “talk to a tutor” through the SickKids COVID-19 Vaccine Consult Service, as well as to book vaccination appointments.
The goal: to support families by providing them with trusted information about COVID-19 vaccination for children and learn from medical experts – all in one place.
The Children's Health Coalition includes CHEO, Children’s Hospital – London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Mental Health Ontario, Empowered Kids Ontario, Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Kids Health Alliance, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
