June 10, 2026, Ottawa, Ont. – CHEO is advising patients, families and visitors of temporary changes to hospital access as construction progresses on its new Integrated Treatment Centre (ITC).
Beginning June 15, 2026, CHEO’s main front entrance will be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians for the next phase of exterior construction. This is the most significant stage of the project and is expected to continue through October 2026.
During this time, patients and visitors are asked to follow updated routes and signage.
Here is what patients and families need to know:
-
The Max Keeping Wing entrance will serve as the best location for patient and visitor drop-offs and pick-ups.
-
Traffic flow will be reversed indefinitely, with vehicles entering from the west entrance and exiting via the south entrance on Ring Road.
-
Para Transpo access will continue, with drop-off available at the Max Keeping entrance and near Parking Lot A.
-
Some parking spaces near the main entrance will be temporarily closed.
-
There will be no change to drop-off at the CHEO School entrance near Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice.
Clear signage, updated maps, and volunteers will be on site to help guide families and visitors who should continue parking in the CHEO parking garage or Lot A.
We recognize that these temporary changes may impact the patient and family experience. Visitors are encouraged to allow extra time for travel and to follow posted directions when arriving on site.
This work is a key step in the transformation of CHEO, connecting the new building to the existing hospital and making roadway improvements, adding new pedestrian pathways, and updating areas of campus to better serve patients and families now and in the future.
We thank patients, families and the community for their patience and understanding as this important project moves forward.
