Dec. 9, 2025, Ottawa ON – CHEO is thrilled to welcome new seasoned, strategic leaders to its board of directors: Leah Anderson, Anil Arora, Bonnie Butlin, and Steven Hogue. Board members are appointed for a three-year term.
“Our new directors bring diverse experience to support CHEO’s position as a global leader in pediatric health and research,” said Jim Armour, Chair of the CHEO Board of Directors. “Their skill sets will provide sound advice as CHEO continues to transform the way care is delivered in this region.”

Leah Anderson is a strategic leader and board director with more than 30 years of experience as a regulator, policymaker and economist. Most recently, she served as president and chief executive officer of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation from 2021 to 2025.

Anil Arora brings extensive leadership experience across government, science, policy, and regulatory domains, and has guided large, complex organizations through modernization and innovation. He was previously Chief Statistician of Canada in 2024 and held Senior Assistant Deputy Minister roles at Health Canada and Natural Resources Canada. His career spans senior roles in public and private sectors, and transformative initiatives that shaped Canada’s data and digital landscape globally.

Bonnie Butlin is the co-founder and executive director of the Security Partners’ Forum, a first-of-its-kind international network of security and resilience—maintaining operations in the face of security threats. She created the Women in Security and Resilience Alliance as a network for women in the industry.

Steven Hogue is the director of international policy and communications at Pfizer, where he leads engagement and advocacy with the Canadian government on a wide range of policy issues. He also works to strengthen Canada’s life sciences ecosystem through participation in sector committees and associations.
