Dec. 19, 2025, Ottawa, ON – CHEO, in collaboration with OC Transpo, is pleased to announce extended bus service to and from the hospital campus on Smyth Road.
Starting Dec. 21, as part of OC Transpo’s winter service adjustments, Route 45 will run until 8:30 p.m. with stops every 15 minutes during the evening hours. The route is an important connector running between CHEO and Hurdman Station, ensuring convenient access for everyone who requires public transportation.
These changes provide more flexibility for those with later appointments, evening shifts, or visiting hours.
“As someone who takes public transit to work, I know how much these changes matter. Reliable, frequent service isn’t just convenient — it removes barriers for families and supports our incredible workforce, especially those with later appointments, visiting hours, or evening shifts,” said Vera Etches, CHEO president and CEO.
CHEO continues to improve transportation access to its Smyth Road campus, which includes the new parking garage.
