Wednesday’s ice storm caused widespread damage and disruption. Our thoughts are with everyone affected directly and indirectly.
As an essential service, CHEO remains open. We know people count on us and Team CHEO is doing its very best to serve young people and their families during this time. If you can’t make it to a planned appointment, don’t worry. Just let your clinic/provider know and we will rebook it as soon as possible.
If you are coming to CHEO for care, work, learning or volunteering, please commute safely and be mindful of trees and power lines.
As of Thursday, April 6:
-
The main Smyth Road campus is open. This includes our school and preschool services. All school busses in the City of Ottawa are cancelled.
-
All other CHEO locations are also open except for the following remote site that is without power:
-
- 600 Campbell Street, Cornwall ON
-
If any additional services must be rescheduled, CHEO or one of our partners will contact you directly.
Our Emergency Department continues to support families of young patients whose children depend on electrically powered devices for life-sustaining support. Please come in if you need help (remembering to drive with caution). Thank you to our partners at Ronald McDonald House and Roger Neilson House for supporting our efforts to serve these families this weekend.
For the latest information on ongoing storm impacts and power outages:
Thank you to Hydro Ottawa, Hydro One, and other frontline services who are also working through this long weekend to restore the essential services we all rely on.
