Ottawa, ON, January 24, 2023 –
On #BellLetsTalk Day, CHEO and CHEO Foundation, through the generous funding of Bell, are proud to launch a six-part video series of mental health education workshops to support families and caregivers of children and youth.

The series features six key topics where CHEO clinicians and health-care workers provide insights and tips for parents and caregivers. The first video, launched today, focuses on technology dependence and is led by renowned clinical psychologist and researcher, Dr. Neil Gottheil. The five remaining videos will be released in the next few days and feature: Teens and intense emotions; Parenting your anxious child; Hope and healing: Working with our nervous systems; Teaching our kids to self-regulate; Accommodating for your child’s ADHD at home.

Competing with screen time and online technology: a workshop for parents | Dr. Neil Gottheil

The series will be a key feature on CHEO’s YouTube channel as part of CHEO’s involvement with YouTube Health, a global initiative aimed at offering equitable access to reliable health information. CHEO is proud to be included with other reputable Canadian organizations in helping parents and caregivers find reliable, evidence-based and accurate information to support their children and youth.

CHEO also offers several mental health resources and support and is a key partner in 1Call1Click.ca.

Quotes

“I constantly hear from parents who are worried about all the nonsense on the internet, how it impacts their kids and how it makes it hard for them to find reliable information. That’s why we’re so happy to work with Bell, YouTube and our clinicians to bring the latest and best evidence, news you can use, directly to parents and caregivers.”
- Alex Munter, President and CEO, CHEO

“Bell has been a generous partner of CHEO andCHEO Foundation for many years. Their dedication to the health and wellbeing of children and youth has been seen through contributions to capital campaigns, workplace giving and sponsorship. Their focus on the mental health of children is appreciated at a time when so many young people are struggling. We are grateful to Bell for their support of this Mental Health Education Video Series being released today and we know it will bring vital information to families.”
- Steve Read, President and CEO, CHEO Foundation
