Diabetes

Welcome to the CHEO Diabetes Resource page. Our clinic specializes in children and youth with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and other rarer forms of diabetes including cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) and steroid-induced diabetes. Our goal is to help children and teens with diabetes manage their medical, nutritional and psychosocial needs related to diabetes. We want to empower children and young adults with diabetes to live healthy lives.

In case of emergency, please call 911. This includes emergencies involving your child's diabetes.

For patients who are waiting for their first visit with the Diabetes clinic:

  • If you suspect your child or youth may have undiagnosed type 1 diabetes, please seek urgent medical help, either from CHEO's emergency department or another urgent care facility.
  • For everything else, please call your family doctor, pediatrician or visit your nearest walk-in clinic.
