Ottawa hospitals lead awards for life-saving organ donations

Five Ottawa hospitals are being recognized by Trillium Gift of Life Network for their life-saving organ donation work — the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Hôpital Montfort, Queensway Carleton Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Each hospital is being awarded the Hospital Achievement – Conversion Rate Award, given to hospitals that meet or exceed Trillium Gift of Life Network’s provincial target.

On October 21, a new patient health information system designed to improve care and safety will be turned on at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). It’s a major step in consolidating patient health records, where every patient has one digital health record that is comprehensive and immediately available to care providers throughout the hospital and beyond.

Ottawa — The child and youth population in Ottawa and surrounding areas is projected to grow by 30 percent over the next 20 years and their health-care needs are also growing and changing, according to a report prepared for the Champlain Local Health Integration Network by a Steering Committee of individuals and organizations led by the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario – Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre.
