Programs we offer

Camp Cambria

Every year, children with arthritis have an opportunity to attend a camp of their own for one week every August.

Camp Cambria is a residential summer camp located in Parry Sound, Ontario run by The Arthritis Society, with generous support from the official sponsor Cambria. Camp Cambria gives kids with arthritis the chance to be independent, learn new things, and meet new friends just like them. This year's camp features fun activities such as horseback riding, waterskiing and rock climbing.

Patients aged 8 to 17 years with arthritis are eligible to attend Camp Cambria at no cost.

For more information please visit Camp Cambria.

Canadian Children's Book for Juvenile Arthritis

A chronic disease like Juvenile Arthritis (JIA) is challenging for parents, but especially for children.

To help find ways to explain the disease and medical management to young children, Inga Bohnekamp (a child psychologist,) and Dr. Johannes Roth have written a children's book called “The Colours of my Rainbow”. This book explains the disease and procedures in a child-friendly manner, plus various relaxation techniques and other methods that can be used at home to cope with symptoms of JIA.

Please contact Roxanne MacKay at rmackay@cheo.on.ca if you would like a copy of this book.
